SNAP by FIT3D

SNAP by FIT3D

3D Body Scans are currently available at Iowa City and Cedar Rapids South. Member scan = $25/Non-member scan = $30.

Please note, this is not a BIA machine.

BIA Devices

  • Provide body fat %, lean mass, and other composition metrics.
  • Longstanding familiarity with members in many gyms and clinics.

Fit3D SNAP

  • Delivers 3D visuals that clients can see from every angle.
  • Captures precise circumference measurements to track body shape changes.
  • Powered by AI for consistent, reliable results regardless of hydration or electrode placement.

What is a 3D Body Scan?

  • Your 3D Avatar
  • Body Shape Rating (BSR) – A wellness score based on the relationship of your body shape to cardiovascular related risk factors
  • Body Composition
    • Body Fat %
    • Weight
    • Fat Mass
    • Lean Mass
  • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
  • Posture Analysis – Showing the amount of shift and Tilt form the front, side, and back views.  (*Posture Analysis can take up to 24 hrs to process)
  • Balance Report – Showing your weight distribution through 4 quadrants
  • Circumference Measurements

How accurate is SNAP compared to Fit3D ProScanner?

SNAP by Fit3D delivers accuracy on par with – and in many ways exceeding – the Fit3D ProScanner, thanks to advances in computer-vision AI and body-measurement modeling.

Here’s how they compare:

  1. Measurement Accuracy:
    • Both SNAP and ProScanner achieve within 3–5% of DEXA for body-composition estimates and sub-centimeter variance for circumference measurements.
    • SNAP uses Fit3D’s latest Body Prediction AI, trained on more than 5 million real 3D body scans, to calculate measurements from high-resolution video data – producing results just as consistent as the ProScanner’s structured-light system.
  2. Repeatability (Consistency):
    • SNAP offers equal or better repeatability than ProScanner when environmental factors (lighting, stance, rotation speed) are controlled.
    • A 2024 Frontiers in Medicine study on smartphone 3D reconstruction found average circumference error of ≈0.5 cm (ICC = 0.996) and body-fat correlation r ≈ 0.90 vs. DXA – levels consistent with or better than legacy scanning hardware.
  3. Environmental Flexibility:
    • ProScanner required calibrated hardware and fixed lighting.
    • SNAP adapts to different settings using AI-based correction, reducing setup requirements while maintaining precision.
  4. User Experience:
    • SNAP eliminates hardware drift, calibration errors, and mechanical wear – factors that could degrade ProScanner accuracy over time.

In short:

SNAP matches the ProScanner’s accuracy and repeatability, while improving reliability, speed, and ease of use – no hardware calibration or maintenance required.
